Professor of the Department of Linguistics at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki

Dimitrios Koutsogiannis is Professor of Educational Linguistics at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Department of Linguistics. He worked as a Modern Greek Language teacher in secondary education fοr twenty years. His special interest and his publications are related to teaching of Modern Greek as first and second language, educational discourse analysis, social semiotics, teachers’ training, and digital literacies. He has been a research associate in the “Centre for the Greek Language” (www.greek-language.gr) since 1997, responsible for the development of digital resources for the Greek language and he is director of the “Division for the support and promotion of the Greek language”, in the Center for the Greek Language. He has also been a research associate since 2005 in the “Computer Technology Institute - Diofantos” (CTI) (http://www.cti.gr/en/), responsible for in-service teacher’s training (at a national level) on using New Media in Greek language teaching. In 2015 he co-founded the Special Interest Group (SIG) “Technology and Literacy Education”, that belongs to the “International Association for Research in L1 Education” (ARLE) (https://www.arle.be/).
